Si Shen Tang relieves adrenal fatigue (aka stress) and improves digestion.

Many people living in Nanaimo experience the connection between the gut and stress. For example, heartburn, indigestion, bloating or diarrhea.

Long-term and persistent stress can also have many adverse effects on health, such as insomnia, depression, obesity, fatigue and even diarrhea.

Due to the cold and damp winter climate, residents living on Vancouver Island are more susceptible to moisture. Many islanders suffer from rheumatism, obesity, fatigue, depression and many other physical problems.

Si Shen Tang is the best solution for people to maintain their health in all seasons.

The main function of Si Shen Tang is to strengthen the spleen and stomach, while also helping to regulate the lung, spleen and kidney functions. Strong spleen and stomach function also assists the lungs, spleen and kidneys to remove excess water from the body, improve and relieve symptoms and diseases.

For example, diarrhea, drowsiness, picky eating, malnutrition, obesity, pain, cramps, lung disease, nodules, tumors, etc.

Ingredients

An adult dosage:

Chinese barley 9 grams

Gorgon 9 grams

Lotus seeds 9 grams

Chinese yam(dry/fresh) dry 9 grams, fresh double amounts

Poria cocos 9 grams

Other ingredients(optional)

1. 250 grams-500 grams each/Black Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork tenderloin

2. two pieces of figs – for better taste

 

Cooking Method

1. Chinese barley takes long time to cook totally. Therefore, rinse it and put cold water to cover above 1cm higher to make a boil, then left it on the stove overnight to soak. Then mixed with other ingredients to cook in the next day.

or keep it in the frozon area over night then take it out for unfreezed then cook with other ingredients. It will shorten the cooking time to get a soften barley.

2. Rinse lotus seed, gorgon, dry Chinese yarn and poria cocos dust away with cold water, put them into a pot with about 1000 ml cold water, soaking for about 30 minutes.

Then add the soaked barley from the previous day to make a boil under high heat. (let’s call it grains pot)

Turn to middle heat after a boil.

3. Meanwhile, cut pork ribs into pieces, put in cold water( which is cover the ribs totally) with 2-3 pieces of ginger and green onion in another pot, make a boil in a high heat, remove excess fat and blood foam.

Take all ribs out then put into the grains pot, 3-4 pieces of ginger, 2 pieces of figs and 1 lid cup of cooking wine into the grains pot.

Add more water about 1000 ml – 1500 ml into for the soup.

4. Make a boil under high heat then continue cook 1.5 – 2 hours under middle heat.

Add an appropriate amount of salt 10-15 minutes ahead of cooking time.

5. Have the grains, meat and soup together when it is warm.

6. This meal can be breakfast, snack time or dinner, also helping weight control.

Precautions

1. The herbal ingredients of si shen soup contain a lot of starch, and the taste is astringent when stewed alone. It is suitable to add protein to increase the lubrication.

2. Meat eaters can add pork ribs, pork stomach, pork intestines, black chicken, etc.

3. Vegetarians can add some beans and cook them into soup or porridge, which is easy to digest.

4. It is recommended to take it on an empty stomach after getting up in the morning, which can moisturize the stomach and intestines and is easy to absorb.
